Blair

Adoption Day 6/1/08

--------

Blair is a 3 year old sweet girl who came to us from a regional shelter together with her companion Blaze.  Blair weighs about 62 lbs, but needs to gain another 5-6 lbs.  Blair is current on her vaccinations and spayed.  She is heartworm positive and started treatment on April 28.  She should be ready for adoption by early June.

Foster Update 4/28/08:

Blair is doing really well.  After some intensive food therapy, she gained 5 lbs. this week and is looking so much better.  She started her heartworm treatment today, and will finish treatment in early June.  This doggie is livelier by the day! She enjoys her walk and the opportunities to sniff at various bushes and bark at different dogs behind the fence.  Every time she goes to the backyard, she has to make sure that a few of rolling over and kicking her legs in the air are done before coming back to the house.  Inside the house she is one good mannered lady.  Blair is one of the few dogs that I trust enough to let her roam free in the house even when no one is at home. She is very good and never touches anything that is not hers.  She gets along well with her foster sister, and has passed the "cat test".

Just like Blaze, Blair loves bread! Actually it is any kind of baking goods. During the time when she was not eating, blueberry muffin, Italian bread, English muffin, bagel etc are the only things that she would open her mouth for me.  Now I just give her a few pieces of bread here and there as treats.

Foster Update 4/16/08:

She is the sweetest girl in the world.  Very gentle and has good manners. She does not counter surf, does not get on furniture or chew on anything she is not supposed to.  She is completely housetrained (not a single accident in the house!), and knows a few basic commands like "sit", or "come".  She is very calm and walks well on a leash.  She has a gentle mouth and doesn't mind my 7 year old niece poking at her or grabbing her at anytime.  During the day, she likes to hang out with me and sleeps in the same general vicinity with me so she could see me.  She dislikes the crate. Since she is housetrained, I don't even bother to crate her at night. She just sleeps on the doggie bed in my room and she is content with that.  During the day if I have to leave the house, she stays in the bathroom together with her foster sister.   Her favorite thing to do is to go roll on the lawn and kick her legs in the air while twisting her little body.  She does that every time when she goes out to the yard.
