  at the French Alliance

Historic Residence at 427 Lovett Blvd. (77006)

Reception at 6:30 pm, tasting at 7:00 p.m.

Please join us on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 for  “Dog-Gone Good Value Wines from around the World.”  Learn how to always have a great wine on hand without spending a fortune.  Bear Dalton, the ever-knowledgeable and always-entertaining Fine Wine Buyer from Spec’s, will “fetch” us the best wines for the best value, sharing some of his favorites.  Proceeds from this event will benefit Golden Beginnings' rescue mission.

A buffet of cheeses and French bread will complement the ten wines, which will be followed by coffee and an array of delicious desserts.   A fun and  informative evening is guaranteed.  We hope you will attend and invite your friends.

Cost is $40 per person.   This event is SOLD OUT.   However, we may have a few spots available due to the change of date, so please e-mail us if you are interested in attending.  Click here for complete event details.  Visit the French Alliance on the web at www.afdehou.org.

Changes to the Kroger Share Card Program

Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program Eliminates Need for Separate Share Card

Now you no longer need a separate Kroger share card!

Kroger Grocery Stores have recently discontinued the Kroger Share Card program and have replaced it with their new Neighbor to Neighbor program.  Under this program, you are no longer required to present a share card at the check-out counter when you wish to donate to GBGRR.   Instead, you can have a GBGRR identification number electronically encoded onto your KrogerPlus Card that will identify GBGRR as the organization you wish to support.  Kroger has set aside a fund of one million dollars to be divided up among  all participating non-profit agencies. The amount each agency receives will be based on the number of times that agency’s identification number is used by customers in a given year. That means the more you use your KrogerPlus Card, the more GBGRR receives for our rescued animals.

Having the GBGRR identification number added to your KrogerPlus Card is as simple as having the cashier scan a bar code that contains the GBGRR identification number.  You only have to do this once a year.  The current Neighbor to Neighbor Program is effective May 1, 2008 to April 30, 2009.   After the bar code has been scanned, our rescues will benefit every time you shop during the entire year. The bar code appears below and can be printed and used by Kroger to enroll you in the program. Alternatively, you can download a PDF file that contains the bar code and complete instructions for its use.  (Adobe Acrobat is required to view a PDF file.)

The KrogerPlus card is free and membership is not required to obtain this shopping card.

If you have questions about the Neighbor to Neighbor Program, you can contact a Kroger representative at 866-995-7643 or by email to neighbortoneighbor@kroger.com. Additional information is also available at http://www.krogerneighbortoneighbor.com/.

The Kroger Share Card has been a very beneficial program for our Rescue, so if you shop at Kroger, please add GBGRR to your KrogerPlus Card so that the success can continue.
