We hope you find your visit informative as well as enjoyable. GBGRR is a non-profit organization, staffed solely by volunteers, devoted to providing rescue and necessary veterinary medical care for unwanted, neglected, abused, homeless and displaced Golden Retrievers. We strive to place our Goldens in adoptive homes where they will receive a lifetime of love.

GBGRR, a non-profit organization founded in 1999,
is celebrating our 10-year anniversary. In our
first ten years, GBGRR has rescued more than two thousand Golden Retrievers and received
numerous awards and grants. GBGRR received the Starfish Award from the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA) for our rescue efforts during hurricane Katrina, and in 2008, two of our rescued Goldens won G.R.A.C.E. (Golden Retrievers Achieving Community Excellence) Awards in two

different categories at the GRCA Nationals in Providence, Rhode Island.

We hold a variety of fundraising, public awareness and educational events throughout the year. The highlight is our Reunion Picnic each Fall, where hundreds of rescued Goldens (and the humans who love them) meet to play, romp, swim, socialize and have lunch, and those dogs in their "Golden Years" proudly participate in the "Parade of Seniors". Photo Contest
Does your Golden Retriever have what it takes to adorn a page of the 2014 Golden Beginnings calendar? The Calendar Committee is now looking for next year's up-and-coming talent. Please send us your best Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever photos to showcase your adopted Golden's good looks and charming personality. We want to see your Golden living the good life, from lounging in sunbeams to romping in the great outdoors. Also, be sure to let us know your Golden's name and how he/she came to Golden Beginnings. If you are one of the lucky winners you will be contacted to provide your pet's bio, favorite hobby, most endearing trait, etc. that will be included on the calendar. 100% of proceeds from the photo contest entries and calendar sales will go toward helping other Goldens in need.
Our 2014 calendar will have 13 winning photographs (one for each month and one for the cover), and any usable photographs will be considered by the Calendar Committee for inclusion within the calendar. Go to the Calendar Photo Contest page for more information.
