Golden Beginnings Success Stories

Since we began Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue in 1999, we have saved over 2,000 Goldens.

This was possible only because of the dedication and commitment of our foster homes and volunteers who have given so much to help this beautiful breed.

Like any good cause, it takes money to succeed. We couldn't have done it without the continuing generosity of our sponsors.

Finally, we are grateful for those of you who have (through adoption) given our dogs a new beginning.....
a "Golden Beginning".

Here are a few Success Stories that we would like to share with you:

Fred, The Honorary Mayor

Fred is just amazing and is doing very, very well. He lives in a very "dog centric" neighborhood known as Woodland Heights. He knows all the dogs in the neighborhood and they all know him. He is very well behaved and never even needs a leash for walking. He holds an evening reception outside every night with usually 5 other dogs (all the dog owners get together nightly out back of our house). In fact, last week he was elected "Mayor" of the Olde Towne Heights Homeowners Association. He's a very happy dog.

His vet says he's very healthy. He weighs in at about 85 pounds. He's quite a handsome dog and strangers often walk up to us and say: "Gosh, that's a beautiful dog". He's also quite the "ham" and usually extends a paw to shake after they say that. We have a really nice trail along White Oak Bayou down the street. That's Fred's favorite walk.

Logan

About 13 years ago I adopted Logan (originally named Care) from your rescue. Today we celebrate his 13th birthday. He and 3 siblings were born blind. I can not tell you how many times I counted my blessings for finding this sweet boy.

Thank you again!

Saya

Happy birthday Saya!

This is Saya who we adopted in September of 2000 when she was 2 years old. I just had to pass this sweet girl’s great accomplishment of turning 15 this past week. She is still a love in every way...loves kids, loves chasing tennis balls, loves swimming and loves us back 100 fold!!!

Thank you for saving this sweet girl for us so we could make her our forever Golden!!!

Gonzo

Hello, Golden Beginnings!

We've had our beautiful golden boy, Gonzo (and we didn't change his name) just over a year now, so we thought it was about time to send you all some pictures to let you see how well he is doing.

He is the happiest little guy who LOVES his big brother, Sobi. They love chasing squirrels, going for walks on the beach (with human brother Jeremy), running in the park and going for car rides!

Thank you for the honor of allowing us to adopt this precious ‘fella -- we just think he hung the moon (along with Sobi)!

Ranger

I thought y’all might like to see Ranger looking a bit more like a Golden with his hair starting to get pretty wavy. He carries his rope around pretty much the whole time he is in the backyard unless of course he is playing fetch with his tennis ball. He even has to find his rope before he can do his business first thing in the morning and then drops it at the back door before coming in so he can pick it up on his way out the next time.

UPDATE: Oct 6, 2013
Ranger update 10/2013: Ranger passed his temperament test! He and his new mom will be going to an elementary school each week for students to read to them. They may also visit hospitals or nursing homes, etc. and we think he will be a good listener.

Hudson (formerly known as Danny Boy)

Just wanted to share a recent pic of Hudson after his St. Pat's bath and to also share with you that his vet has officially declared him heartworm-free!!! He is such a blessing and a wonderfully large part of our lives!

April

It has been too long since I sent you some pictures of our little girl. I love her so much, and keep telling her "How was I so lucky to find a sweet little girl like you". We took a lot of pictures at Christmas so I thought I'd let you see just how pretty April has gotten, not that she wasn't before.
